Phantasms are decesaed spirits of mages who cannot find rest. Their immortal souls still surge with their magical talents but without an anchor to the mortal world, these chaotic energies have driven the Phantasms quite mad. They drift throughout the world, seeking something they no longer comprehend or remember, unleashing their fiersome magical powers on any unlucky stranger in their path.

Their constant need to find this forgotten piece of themselves have twisted them to try steal the lives of mortal men. Their insane hope is that if they can become someone else, they will regain their reason for existence, but this is the false hope of the lost. They may mimic the form of others, but they cannot take on their memories or lives. This doesn’t stop them from trying to eliminate anyone in their victim’s lives that see through the magical mask they wear.

These social parasites have one fatal flaw, however, and that is that they truly do not understand the nature of love and friendship. They are selfishness incarnate, taking and never giving, and observing the very act of love causes them physical pain. Violence is not how one destroys a Phantasm; love is.
