Standing up to half the height of a man, with the head, comb and wattles of a cockerel, the body and legs of a lizard, the wings of a bat, and the tail and forked tongue of a snake, the Cockatrice is an abomination of nature. Cockatrices are hatched from an egg laid by a rooster and incubated by a toad, which thankfully means they are a rare sight in the world.
They say the very sight of this horrific creature can stop a man dead in his tracks, but it isn’t its appearance that should frighten the would-be adventurer, but its gaze. The Cockatrice’s gaze can turn a man to stone. Often this is temporary, but the unlucky few remain as statues forever. The only creature immune to the Cockatrice’s stare is the ichneumon, the greater mongoose, and that is the only being the Cockatrice truly fears.

Perk: Stone Gaze: Select a target, spend a Sigil and roll a d100. Treat the result as a Wound inflicted on the target that may be reduced by a successful Will Skill Check. If, after the opposing Check’s result, the target still gains this Wound, then he will turn to stone for a duration equal to the Wound’s severity.
Quirk: Monster Nemesis: Your GM selects a type or class of creature to become your Monster Nemeses (e.g. demons, cats, birds, giants, etc.). Any type of Wound you inflict on your Nemeses is reduced in severity by one step; and any type of Wound they inflict on you is automatically increased in severity by one step.
Equipment: The Cockatrice is a fearsome enough creature on its own. It requires no arms or armour to defeat its opponents.
